We're back from the sleep study...ironic that it's called that since you don't get much sleep. At least I didn't. Fortunately Jack did get some sleep. We won't get the official results until Tuesday morning, but unofficially Jack had "several" aepnic events. Most of his de-sats were into the low 80's and high 70's, although he did have one where he went into the 60's. They let me bring our pulse oximeter in, so I was able to tell how he was doing. It's a good thing, because their pulse ox wasn't reading as well as ours - it was about 5 points lower - so she switched the probe and then it matched ours. Otherwise, the study would have shown that he was doing much worse than he acutally is.
He does much better than this at home, but we always put him on his side and we keep a humidifier going in our room. We do feel like this was a fair assessment of him, though - he's right on the cusp and would probably benefit from having his adenoids out. So it looks like we're most likely on for surgery on Tuesday. It's never easy to send your child into surgery and I'm sure I'll be a nervous wreck tomorrow, but it will be good for him in the long run.
We took a picture of him last night once all the wires and probes were on - I'll post it when we get home. It was a rough time for him. It took about an hour and toward the middle of it, he seemed to figure out that he wasn't getting a choice in this and he sort of gave in and stopped crying so hard. It broke my heart. Our poor little guy has been through so much in his three short years. I hope that the future holds a lot of fun for him!
More on Tuesday...heading to bed for a nap now.
